The Holiday Packing Checklist
Traveling abroad – hand luggage
Passport, tickets and boarding passes; any necessary visas. If you are going somewhere exotic, make sure that you check the visa requirements before you even book.
Address of your accommodation and details of how you will be getting there, along with any itinerary and contact details that you will need. It is always wise to find out how you will be getting to your hotel before you go. It can be dangerous to just grab a taxi at some airports because the drivers will not all be trustworthy.
Valuables such as mobile phone, camera, laptop
Money in the currency of both your destination and your country of departure. This can be particularly useful in the case of delays.
Travel sweets
Any necessary medication
Credit cards
Driving license (both photo and counterpart if driving abroad)
A warm jumper for the plane, if you are particularly likely to get cold, you may also consider a lightweight blanket.
Travel pillow if they help you to sleep
Books, magazines, games consoles or any other forms of entertainment that you need
Toothbrush, change of underwear and t-shirt in case of lost luggage
Hold luggage or packing for a UK break
Clothes, shoes and underwear for everyone in your party. Remember to take comfortable shoes, there is nothing worse than having your holiday ruined by blisters!
Swimwear and beach towels
Sunglasses, sun cream, after sun, sun hats; whatever sun protection you might personally need
Mosquito repellent. Without it's going to be cold where you're going, pack this just incase. It is much easier to check before you go that the repellant contains deet, if it does not it will not be effective.
Warm clothing
Toiletries
First aid kit
Travel plugs and phrase book or translator if going abroad
For children
Whatever bedding and comforter / cuddly toy they usually sleep with
Books, toys and whatever else keeps them entertained
Snacks and drinks
Any necessary medication including travel sickness medication
Travel sweets
Small blanket
For babies
Changing kit including nappies, wipes, cream, changing bag, changing mat, nappy bags
Any comforters they use at home
Baby food or formula if necessary
Blankets for traveling
Bedding that they sleep in at home
Travel cot if not provided
If you do find that you do not have everything you need when you arrive, do not panic! You can always pick up most things when you're there, considering asking at your accommodation for a recommendation as to where best to purchase the things that you have forgotten.
