Are you looking for an easy guide that helps you with the stressful UK visa application process?

After months of reading all the guidance, pages and pages of rules, YouTube videos and Facebook groups, I finally had the confidence to apply. Here I will share with you my experience of a Spouse Visa application and advise you on what to expect.

SO, LET’S START…

After you get all the documents together you can begin with the online application: https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/Account/login

So after the payment of your visa fee, IHS and any of the extra services you want, you will either be instructed to send all of your documents to Sheffield OR you will have them scanned at the same time as they take your biometrics (it depends on the country you are applying from). I had all of my documents scanned as they took my biometrics in Sao Paulo VFS.

DOCUMENTS:

Financial:
– 6 months of payslips
– 6 months bank statements (matching the same period as the payslips)
– Employers letter

Relationship Documents:
– Marriage certificate
– Pictures of you and your partner together (I sent 30 from different times and places)
– Letters, Cards, WhatsApp chats (there are guides on how to extract your chat history online)

English Certificate
– I took my test at Trinity College, London (Level A1)

Accommodation:
– Tenancy agreement
– E-mail from the estate agent OR a letter from the landlord
– Pictures of the home and property details (listing details are ideal as they have the size and rooms)

Personal experience: We called and emailed them lots of times – it is not worth chasing them. It cost’s money to do this and it doesn’t go any faster – they will process your application when they decide to, unfortunately.

(PRIORITY SERVICE)
Personal experience: I applied with the priority service, but only received my visa after 55 working days from the date of biometrics. It really depends on where you are from, some countries do get a quicker response.
Note: I did not receive an email advising my application was NSF.
